Filling the Gaps for an Aging Population and in Senior Care

Aging is changing and it's changing California. California's over-60 population is projected to grow faster than any other age group. By 2030, 10.8 million Californians will be an older adult, making up one-quarter of the state's population.

Diversity in Health Training Institute stands as a beacon of hope and a force for transformation within our communities. As a non-profit Community-Based Organization, our unwavering mission is to elevate healthcare services for underserved communities. We achieve this by driving the progress of workforce development and community well-being, specifically dedicated to immigrants and English-Language Learners.

Our mission comes to life through our commitment to forging pathways within the healthcare industry for immigrants, creating bridges to promising career opportunities. Hand-in-hand with educators and employers, we empower immigrants with the qualifications and skills needed to embark on meaningful healthcare careers. Together, we are not merely reshaping lives; we are revitalizing the very essence of compassionate care and inclusivity in healthcare.

The launch of our Angel Caregivers project in Fall 2022, trains bilingual immigrants with caregiver competencies to help Seniors age with dignity, at the comfort of their own home, and in their native language.

As of September 2023, we have trained over 89 participants into Health Care Aide roles, and 18 into Certified Nursing Assistant roles to serve the aging population from Alameda to San Francisco and Contra Costa Counties.
